Job summary

CYGNET is seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to lead medical care at Svanna Ward, Beckton, London. You will oversee inpatients, drive clinical governance, and work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care for women in crisis.

Qualifications

  • Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent).
  • Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC Status.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in learning disabilities and mental health diagnosis.
  • Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • MRCPsych or equivalent membership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on high quality care for service users admitted to Svanna Ward.
  • Act as a positive role model towards patients and staff.
  • Own patient treatment plans with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Assess referrals and perform mental state examinations.
  • Conduct investigations, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Run ward rounds, reviews and clinical audits.
  • Lead risk assessment and governance within the service.
  • Supervise MH Act tribunal reports and hearings.
  • Liaise with the Ministry of Justice for transfers and leave.
  • Maintain patient records and communications with stakeholders.
  • Attend academic meetings and CPD as required.

Be a part of it.Job Title: Consultant PsychiatristService Line: Specialist PICU (Female)Professionally Accountable to: Medical DirectorManagerially Responsible to: Hospital ManagerWe are seeking an experienced full-time Consultant Psychiatrist who will work at Cygnet Hospital Beckton and provide senior medical cover on Svanna Ward, our 12 bed Psychiatric Intensive Support Service for women.The ward provides assessment and treatment for women experiencing a mental health crisis who require an emergency admission.The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and will oversee and maintain the care of all ward inpatients as required and will also have responsibility for auditing the medical services rendered at the ward and ensuring their good quality in accordance to GMC standards of good medical practice and other relevant professional guidelines.The service pathway provides a robust programme of care for women with challenging high risk behaviour who experience difficulties with engagement with therapeutic programmes.
