Job Description:

We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant Physician with an interest in Respiratory Medicine on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Medicine department.

Our client is one of the UK's largest and busiest teaching Trusts with a turnover of c£1 billion, 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 15,000 staff based across South East London. The Trust provides a full range of local and specialist services across its five sites. The successful appointee will be asked to undertake various duties, which will include:

1. Ensure the delivery of a high quality Respiratory service.
2. Contribute to all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties for the proper functioning of the department.
3. Cover colleague's periods of annual leave and short-term sickness.
4. Clinical supervision of junior medical staff as a shared responsibility with other consultant colleagues.
5. Carry out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contribute to Continuing Medical Education and clinical governance initiatives.
6. Responsible for out-patient clinic commitments in peripheral hospitals as agreed by the Divisional management team & contribute to the Audit Programme.
