An exciting opportunity has arisen to join and further expand our dynamic and well-respected Acute Medicine team here at Barnsley Hospital.
The successful applicant(s) will join a team of ten consultants. Each member demonstrates clinical excellence and brings additional skills including research, teaching, education, and management. Most importantly, the team works collaboratively.
This is a substantive post supporting the expansion of services to meet activity and service demands as we move towards a 12-hour / 7-day AIM cover model. It includes daytime work on the AMU, Short Stay Unit (SSU), and Medical SDEC (Same Day Emergency Care).
This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the leading AMUs in the region, offering exceptional support for professional activities and sub-specialty interests.
Candidates unable to work full-time for personal reasons will be considered. If appointed, job content modifications will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

The current staffing includes 10 Consultants, 2 SAS doctors, 1 ST4-7, a mixture of CT3-6, CT1/GP VTS/F2 or F1 doctors, and 6 full-time Physician Associates.
The hospital is an associate teaching hospital of the University of Sheffield, and the Emergency Department is actively involved in undergraduate medical education. Candidates must be on the Specialist Register or within six months of eligibility for entry.
