Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Anaesthetist with a special interest in regional anaesthesia for orthopaedic surgery. The role focuses on ultrasound-guided nerve blocks and neuraxial techniques, with perioperative care, acute pain and enhanced recovery for major cases.

Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthesia, or within six months of CCT, is required.

Qualifikationen

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthesia, or within 6 months of CCT at interview.
• Broad training and experience in elective and emergency anaesthesia across surgical specialties.
• Experience in orthopaedic anaesthesia including arthroplasty and complex cases.
• Regular practice of ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks and neuraxial techniques.
• Experience in perioperative assessment and management of major orthopaedic patients with significant co‑morbidity and frailty.

Aufgaben

• Provide anaesthesia and perioperative care for orthopaedic and spinal surgery.
• Develop regional anaesthesia and acute pain/ER pathways.
• Participate in on-call rota (1:16).
• Assess fitness for surgery in pre-op clinic and supervise staff.
• Provide training for registrars, fellows, nurses, ODPs.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Work flexibly within a consultant-based service.
