Job summary

Practice Plus Group is recruiting a consultant ophthalmologist for its team at the Gillingham Surgical Centre, a part-time employed post of 20 hours a week. The core of the work is high-volume cataract surgery, with oculoplastics and medical retina input, plus outpatient clinics and theatre sessions.

The post is pitched at a consultant who already works NHS or private sessions and wants a stable part-time role.

Qualifications

• Five years as an NHS consultant
• Proven, high-volume cataract surgery experience
• Strong clinical quality and outcomes record

Responsibilities

• Delivering high-volume cataract surgery, including phacoemulsification under topical anaesthesia
• Providing pre-, intra- and post-operative ophthalmic care
• Contributing specialist expertise in oculoplastics and medical retina (wet AMD)
• Working with consultants, nursing teams and wider MDT colleagues to achieve good patient outcomes
• Taking part in outpatient clinics, theatre sessions and clinical governance
• Supporting service development, audit and continuous improvement
• Maintaining clinical standards, patient safety and quality outcomes

Fit is decided by at least five years as an NHS consultant and specialist GMC registration in ophthalmology.

What’s required

Registration & licences

• Full GMC registration with specialist registration in ophthalmology
