Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board is recruiting a Consultant General Surgeon with a specialist interest in Upper GI surgery for Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen, and Withybush General Hospital, Haverfordwest. The post offers a broad mix of on-call, elective and endoscopy work within a JAG-accredited unit.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration and License to Practice with GMC required.
• Experience in General Surgery with Upper GI focus and endoscopy skills preferred.
• Experience in UK NHS and UK consultant practice advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality clinical care across General Surgery with Upper GI and laparoscopic focus.
• Participate in the emergency general surgery on-call rota (1:8).
• Undertake elective procedures at both Glangwili and Withybush hospitals.
• Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior medical staff.
• Contribute to MDT discussions and service development initiatives.
• Support RTT and Standard Cancer Pathway targets and governance.
