Job description
Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant in SRH to join our well established team at Barts Health. You will work with Consultant, SAS and nursing colleagues across the full spectrum of SRH. Any necessary training and support will be provided and you will also have a role in supporting SRH trainees, CESR candidates and DFSRH trainees. You will primarily work at Royal London and Mile End Hospitals, but there may also be the chance to work at our Stratford Centre of Excellence. This is a substantive 10 PA post.

Responsibilities
  • The post holder will have a commitment to be available for 10 PAs each week. They will work as part of the Consultant body to support delivery of care, and training of the multidisciplinary team. They will work across the whole remit of SRH. This will involve work within the abortion service including performing surgical procedures in clinic and with GA in theatre, as well as FGM, menopause, complex contraception and integrated sexual health.
  • The post holder will deliver general integrated sexual health clinics during which supervision and training will be provided to other clinical staff working in the clinic. The post holder will work with our TPD and training co-ordinator to deliver SRH teaching in clinic and elsewhere. There may also be the opportunity to participate in teaching of undergraduate medical students.
  • The post holder will be an educational supervisor for CSRH trainees working on the Barts rotation.

General duties and expectations
  • To provide evidence – based care.
  • To have regard at all times to the clinical and quality standards set out within Trust guidelines.
  • To liaise effectively and on a timely basis with colleagues within the department, other clinical specialities within the Trust particularly gynaecology, General Practitioners, community services, and all healthcare agencies.
  • To maintain and promote team and multi-disciplinary work, working closely and regularly with the consultant medical staff.
  • To provide cover for annual and study leave colleagues so far as is practicable.
  • Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.
  • The post holder will be expected to devote substantially the whole of his/her professional time to this appointment and to give it priority on all occasions.
