We are seeking two enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrists to join our Liaison Psychiatry team.
Our team works in a large acute Trust with several tertiary services. We collaborate closely with acute colleagues to provide holistic care for patients with mental health needs admitted to the hospital. We diagnose and manage a wide range of mental health problems associated with physical morbidities and support teams in managing patients with long-term chronic health conditions. The team is funded for a total of 5.0 WTE consultants, including doctors-in-training, nurse practitioners, and liaison psychology staff.
Post 1 - Consultant General Adult Liaison Psychiatrist with a special interest in substance use disorders. 8 PA post with two sessions dedicated to Substance Use Disorders Psychiatry.
Post 2 - Consultant General Adult Liaison Psychiatrist & Education Lead for the Liaison Psychiatry Team. 8 PA post with two sessions to support the department's Education Team.
The post-holder will be based at Southampton General Hospital, University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. They will be appointed by Southern Health Foundation Trust but also hold an honorary contract with University Hospitals Southampton NHS Trust. The role involves providing clinical leadership within the Adult Liaison Psychiatry team, working across hospital departments, and developing special interests aligned with the post-holder's expertise. The team offers 24/7 practitioner coverage, operates a Band 7 triage model, and includes a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, trainees, psychologists, nurses, and administrative staff.
