Jarrodean Healthcare Recruitment seeks a Consultant Histopathologist for a full-time NHS post in Truro, Cornwall. The lab delivers diverse histology, cytology, autopsy, and molecular services and aims to implement digital Histopathology in 2025.

You will perform molecular PCR, including Idylla BRAF, and offer EUS/EBUS ROE services. Applicants must have GMC registration, FRCPath or equivalent, and be on or near the UK specialist register. Relocation support is available.

Qualifications

• Full GMC license to practise.
• FRCPath or equivalent qualification.
• On GMC specialist register or within 6 months of interview date.
• UK-trained applicants must hold a CCT or be within six months of award.
• Non-UK trained applicants must show evidence of UK CCT equivalence.
• Experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

Responsabilités

• Undertake Molecular automated PCR for theranostic work (e.g. Idylla BRAF) and tumour expression analysis (e.g. ALK).
• Provide an EUS and EBUS rapid onsite evaluation service for pancreatic, lung, adrenal & head/neck.
• Support bowel cancer screening pathology including age expansion and bowel scope screening.
• Collaborate with neighbouring hospitals to procure a digital Histopathology solution connecting 5 trusts, enabling case sharing and MDT discussion.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Consultant Histopathologists for a full time NHS post for the Department of Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology based in beautiful Truro, Cornwall.

The laboratory is a designated centre for many Cancer sites and has full UKAS Accreditation. Receiving over 35,000 Histology, approximately 1,600 Diagnostic Cytology and 900 autopsy requests during 2023 and performing a wide range of molecular techniques.

Applicants from both specialised and more generalised backgrounds will be considered, but an interest in GI &/or dermatopathology would be preferable.

The plan is to install & implement digital Histopathology in 2025

You will:

• Undertake Molecular automated PCR for theranostic work (e.g Idylla BRAF) and tumour expression analysis (e.g ALK in lung carcinoma)
• Provide an EUS and EBUS rapid onsite evaluation service for pancreatic, lung, adrenal & head/neck
• Provide Pathology support for Bowel Cancer Screening programme including age expansion and Bowel Scope Screening
• Work collaboratively with neighbouring hospitals which includes the procurement of an end-to-end digital Histopathology solution, which will connect all 5 Trusts within the region, facilitating the sharing of cases, MDT discussion & expert 2nd opinion.

Person Requirements:

• - Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC
• - FRCPath or show evidence of equivalent qualification
• - On GMC specialist register or within 6 months of interview date
• - Applicants that are UK trained, must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
• - Experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
