Job summary

We are seeking a Consultant General Surgeon to join Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to provide a comprehensive General Surgery service for Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will participate in an on-call rota, supervise junior staff and contribute to education, audit and clinical governance while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

The role emphasizes leadership, teaching, research and ongoing professional development within a supportive Trust environment.

Qualifications

Full GMC Registration required.
Membership of Royal College of Surgeons required.
FRCS or equivalent successful examination.
Postgraduate degrees (MD/ MSc/ MMEd/ PhD) desirable.
Completed fellowship in UGI/HPB surgery desirable.
JAG accreditation for gastroscopies/ERCP/EUS desirable.
Entry on GMC Specialist Register; eligible within six months of CCT at interview.

Responsibilities

Provide a comprehensive General Surgery service in the Trust.
Participate in the consultant on-call rota and cover colleagues on annual leave.
Contribute to clinical governance, audit and CME activities.
Supervise and support junior medical staff and training of students.
Engage in undergraduate and postgraduate education and examinations.
Maintain high professional standards and contribute to service development.
