Job summary

18 Week Support is seeking an experienced consultant dermatologist to join a 12-month sessional post. The role focuses on assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients on 2WW and general dermatology pathways across NHS sites, including suspected skin cancer, with flexible sessions to fit existing commitments.

Entry requires GMC Specialist Register in Dermatology and NHS experience, delivering clinics and providing expert clinical guidance while ensuring safe, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• GMC registration with inclusion on the Specialist Register in Dermatology.
• Previous NHS clinical experience.
• Experience delivering 2WW and/or general dermatology clinics.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assessing, diagnosing and managing patients on 2WW and general dermatology pathways.
• Undertaking comprehensive dermatological examinations and clinical assessments.
• Assessing and managing patients with suspected skin cancer where appropriate.
• Developing and communicating treatment and management plans.
• Providing specialist clinical advice and guidance to patients and colleagues.
• Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation and communicating outcomes.
• Working collaboratively with the wider clinical team to ensure safe and effective care.

Job description

This 12-month sessional post sits with 18 Week Support, an insourcing provider that adds clinical capacity to NHS Trusts across the UK, and is for an experienced consultant dermatologist. The core work is assessing, diagnosing and managing patients on two-week-wait and general dermatology pathways, including suspected skin cancer, and setting out treatment plans. It suits a consultant who wants extra clinical sessions alongside existing commitments, with flexible sessions across several NHS sites.
