Job summary

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Consultant Anaesthetist to join the established department at Queen's Hospital Burton. The post combines 8.5 Direct Clinical Care PAs and 1.5 Supporting Professional Activity PAs with a flexible final job plan to be agreed after a three-month review.

Qualifications

• MBBS/MBChB or equivalent.
• FRCA or equivalent higher qualification (i.e FCARCSI).
• Life Support Qualifications ALS.
• Full GMC registration with a license to practice at time of application.
• GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthetics OR within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview OR If applying for Full GMC Registration & Licence to Practice simultaneously with a Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR) application, supporting documentary evidence must be provided at interview, to confirm an application has been submitted & is under consideration by the GMC.(remove if locum consultant post)

• Training Qualification

Responsibilities

• Provide independent consultant anaesthetic care across a wide range of surgical specialties.
• Participate in the 1:18 out-of-hours consultant on-call rota.
• Work collaboratively with surgical, theatre, critical care and wider multidisciplinary teams.
• Support the supervision, education and training of resident doctors, medical students and other healthcare professionals.
• Participating in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development.
• Contributing to the ongoing development of services, including protocols, guidelines and new ways of working.
• Opportunities to contribute to research, innovation and development according to individual interests.
