Job summary

Origin Legal in Reading (hybrid working available) seeks a Construction Solicitor with 4–6 years’ PQE in non-contentious construction law to join their Thames Valley team. You will advise on contracts and related documents, support development projects, and help grow the firm’s construction offering.

The role offers a collaborative, progressive culture with hybrid working and cross-team collaboration across real estate, commercial and corporate teams.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years’ experience in non-contentious construction law.
• Strong understanding of standard form contracts (JCT, NEC, FIDIC).
• Experience drafting and negotiating bespoke amendments to construction documents.
• Ability to review consultant appointments, warranties, novations, and related documents.
• Knowledge of UK procurement, H&S legislation, insurance, and risk allocation.
• Some exposure to contentious matters such as disputes and adjudications.
• Comfortable with business development and managing client relationships.
• A proactive and collaborative approach with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Advising on and drafting construction contracts, appointments, warranties, and guarantees.
• Supporting real estate, commercial and corporate teams on development projects.
• Helping to grow the firm’s construction offering in the Thames Valley and beyond.
• Playing a visible role in business development and cross-team collaboration.
