Job summary

TSR Legal is supporting a leading multi-office law firm in Cardiff seeking a Contentious Construction Solicitor to join the established Construction team.

You will handle disputes for developers, contractors, funders and public bodies, from instruction through to resolution, with exposure to high-value cases and client relationship development. The role offers progression and exposure to broad dispute work.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor in England and Wales.
• Experience in contentious construction or completion of a construction seat.
• Experience of adjudication and/or TCC litigation.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts and related principles.
• Excellent drafting, analytical and advocacy skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and client-service focus.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Advising on a broad range of construction and engineering disputes.
• Advising on contractual disputes, including payment, delay, disruption, defects, variations, extensions of time and termination.
• Managing and conducting adjudications, including preparing notices, referrals, responses and enforcement proceedings.
• Conducting and assisting with litigation, including proceedings in the Technology and Construction Court (TCC).
• Advising on arbitration, mediation, negotiation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
• Providing strategic advice on dispute avoidance and early resolution.
• Drafting pleadings, submissions, witness statements, expert instructions and other litigation and adjudication documentation.
• Managing matters effectively, including budgets, deadlines, client expectations and case strategy.
• Working collaboratively with partners, solicitors, paralegals and specialists across the wider business.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
• Supporting business development initiatives, including networking, seminars, client training and legal updates.
• Contributing to the continued development and growth of the Construction & Engineering practice.

TSR Legal are currently supporting a multi office top 100 law firm who are looking for a Contentious Construction Solicitor to join an established and growing Construction team in Cardiff.
