Job summary

Melior Associates is seeking a Construction Manager/Project Manager for on-site leadership near Southampton. You will oversee the site team, manage programmes, and ensure safety and quality across water-related schemes.

The role requires recognised civil engineering/site management qualifications, a Civil Engineering/Construction Management degree, and a valid CSCS card. Experience in the water sector and IOSH/First Aid certifications are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is required.
• Recognised civil engineering/site management qualifications are essential.
• IOSH or Construction Managers Safety Certificate is preferred.
• A valid driving licence is required.
• CSCS Site Manager (minimum) is expected.
• First Aid at Work certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage, supervise and mentor the site team.
• Ensure realistic scheme programmes are prepared, reviewed and updated.
• Promote cost conscious management of resources.
• Prepare and review method statements and risk assessments.
• Deliver site inductions and toolbox talks.
• Ensure plant and equipment are fit for purpose and operated by trained personnel.
• Prepare records for measurement and payment promptly.
• Inform line management of potential problems and opportunities.
• Coordinate temporary works and HASEMP.
• Ensure works are defect-free and considerate of local populations.

My client delivers a range of schemes to maintain and improve water supply and wastewater treatment works

Ideally you will have experience of working in the water sector

Responsibilities of the Construction Manager/ Project Manager

• Manage, supervise and mentor the site team as appropriate
• Ensure realistic scheme programmes are prepared, reviewed and updated
• Adopt, maintain and promote cost conscious management through efficient use of all resources
• Ensure method statements and risk assessments are prepared, reviewed, briefed and updated
• Deliver site inductions and regular tool box talk briefings to all site personnel
• Ensure all plant and equipment used is fit for purpose, only operated by suitably trained personnel and regularly inspected
• Ensure all records for measurement and payment purposes are prepared promptly, in appropriate formKeep line management updated of potential problems and opportunities
• Management of temporary coordination
• Develop scheme Health, Safety and Environmental Management Plan (HASEMP)
• To ensure works are constructed defect free
• Ensure all works are undertaken with due regard to the needs of the local population within the immediate vicinity of the works and the travelling public as a whole
