Job summary

Our Client in Winchester is seeking a Senior Site Manager/Construction Manager to lead on a major water sector upgrade for Southern Water. You will report to the Project Manager and oversee health, safety, environment and sustainability, ensuring compliance on all delivered construction work.

Lead multi-disciplinary teams, manage RAMS, and drive constructability reviews, with a focus on zero waste and reduced embodied carbon across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Temporary Works experience/qualification required.
• Project management experience essential.
• Qualification in a construction related discipline.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Experience in the water/wastewater industry preferred.

Responsibilities

Construction Manager

Location: Winchester

Salary Guide: £70-75k (Neg DOE), Car/Allowance and excellent benefits package

Our Client

Our Client: Is an integrated design and build solution provider operating in the water sector. They have over 1,400 staff working across eight regional centres, primarily supporting eight long term water sector frameworks operating both on their own and increasingly in joint ventures and alliances.

The Project

The Project: A multi-million-pound upgrade of a Water Supply Works on behalf of Southern Water, supplying drinking water to around 250,000 homes between Southampton and Winchester.

The site is a central destination for the proposed Hampshire Water Transfer and Water Recycling Project, which involves building a 40km underground pipeline to transfer purified recycled water and reservoir supplies from the Havant area to the works for final drinking water treatment.

The Role

You will report directly to the Project Manager, and the role will include managing Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability with responsibility for managing compliance for all delivered construction work. Manage the local construction delivery team to ensure all construction activities are provided in compliance with the scheme deliverables

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage site construction teams within designated portfolios to deliver projects within approved budget and to an agreed time frame. Facilitate project construction kick off meeting and lead health checks.
• Responsible for the performance of suppliers in relation to Safety, Time and Quality including approving RAMS, ensuring they are appropriate and adequate.
• Take the lead with Constructability Reviews, Project Rehearsal and Fit for Assembly sign-off which drives outperformance and innovation.
• Drive a focus on zero waste and reducing embodied carbon within construction activities.
• Ensure that the site teams are raising the relevant contractual and commercial notices to the rest of the Project Team in a timely manner.
• Work with the Lead Construction Manager to establish long term and short-term resource needs (labour, plant and materials).
• Ensure full H&S compliance is achieved where the team feel safe every day and have the confidence and autonomy to raise safety concerns.
• Look to implement a blend of standard products and innovation techniques which will maintain our client's position as industry-leaders.

Experience

• Temporary Works Experience/Qualification
• Project Management Experience.
• Qualification in a construction related discipline.
• APMP or equivalent
• Extensive experience in large scale programmes of construction delivery
• Experience in the water/wastewater treatment industry (preferred)
• Experienced in management of and monitoring of Project Programmes.Working knowledge of CDM and construction Health & Safety.
• Excellent oral and written communicator with the ability to work in close partnership with clients and end users.
• Must be delivery driven with the ability to set targets
• Able to manage and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver to time, cost and quality objectives.
• Strategic, operational, technical and management skills.
