Job summary

Carmichael UK is seeking a Construction Manager for a flagship substation project in Suffolk. The role requires delivering build, fit out and finishing works on large-scale infrastructure with a Tier 1 contractor background.

• Proven experience as Construction Manager, Senior Construction Manager or Project Manager.
• Strong background delivering build, fit out and finishing packages.

• Background in energy, power, infrastructure, data centres or large construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate construction activities across multiple work fronts.
• Manage subcontractors, supervisors and site teams.
• Oversee building, fit out and finishing works from inception through to handover.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Monitor programme performance and productivity.
• Drive quality assurance, snagging and defect-free delivery.
• Collaborate with project managers, commercial teams, design consultants and client representatives.
• Chair site meetings and provide regular progress updates.
• Manage interfaces between civil, M&E and fit out packages.
• Support commissioning and project handover activities.

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading Tier 1 contractor with a proven track record of delivering major infrastructure and energy projects across the UK. The business operates alongside some of the UK's most recognised Tier 1 construction organisations and major infrastructure programmes.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Construction Manager to join a flagship substation project in Suffolk. This role will suit a construction professional with strong experience delivering build, fit out and finishing packages on large-scale Commercial, infrastructure, industrial, power, data centre, commercial or major project environments.

You will be responsible for driving construction activities on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Requirements

• Experience working for a Tier 1 contractor, major principal contractor or large infrastructure organisation.
• Background in energy, power, infrastructure, data centres, commercial, industrial or major construction projects.
• Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, quality management and programme delivery.
• SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications.
• Full UK driving licence.
