Job summary

JobMatcha is seeking an experienced Building Construction Manager for a major civil engineering project near IP17 in Suffolk. You will lead site activities, coordinate subcontractors and ensure safety, quality and programme delivery on a long-term, ongoing engagement.

The role focuses on on-site construction management, liaising with project teams and ensuring works meet drawings and specifications on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Construction Manager / Building Manager / Site Manager role.
• Experience in the construction or civil engineering sector.
• Experience managing subcontractors and construction teams.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• CSCS/SMSTS or equivalent qualifications would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee day-to-day building construction activities on site.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and site teams to ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently.
• Ensure construction activities are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme requirements.
• Monitor progress against the construction programme and identify potential delays or issues.
• Work closely with the wider project management and engineering teams.
• Ensure all works comply with health and safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Carry out regular site inspections and monitor workmanship and standards.
• Manage construction resources, materials and labour requirements.
• Identify and resolve construction issues as they arise. Maintain accurate site records, reports and relevant documentation.
• Liaise with project stakeholders, contractors and other members of the delivery team.
• Ensure works are delivered to the required quality, programme and budget standards.

Requirements

• Good understanding of construction methods, programmes and site delivery.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple activities and priorities in a busy project environment.
• Relevant construction qualifications and/or CSCS, SMSTS or equivalent would be advantageous.
• Previous experience working on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects is highly desirable.
• Candidates based within reasonable commuting distance of IP17 are preferred.
