Job summary

Siemens Mobility Limited in the UK is seeking a Lead Control Systems Engineer to join its Rail Infrastructure team in Derby. The role covers the full project life cycle from bidding, design and validation to testing, installation and after-sales support.

You will lead a team of engineers, drive system-level design, and ensure safety and industry standards are met across projects, including railway traffic management systems and control centers.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Railway Signalling Systems including VDU Control Centres, TDs and TDM.
  • Membership of a relevant Engineering Institution is desirable.
  • HNC/HND in Engineering or related subject is required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and deliver Railway Traffic Management Systems as part of an engineering team.
  • Develop system requirements and end user requirements for projects.
  • Manage delivery of data production and checks.
  • Lead System and Integration Testing across projects.
  • Collaborate across teams to provide solutions that meet customer needs and safety standards.

Position Overview

We have an exciting opportunity to join Siemens Mobility as a Lead Control Systems Engineer to join our Rail Infrastructure business based in Derby. In this role, you will work on railway traffic management projects throughout the full project life cycle, working in partnership with the multi-skilled, multi-disciplinary team. This is from the early stages of bids and tenders, specification, system design, through validation, testing, approvals and installation, to on-going customer support.

As a Lead Engineer in the Traffic Management team, you will work with a team of engineers through the implementation of projects to deliver technical solutions which meets the customers’ needs and complies with industry specifications.

You’ll make a difference by
  • Working as part of an engineering team to design, develop and deliver Railway Traffic Management Systems
  • Developing system requirements and end user requirements
  • Managing the delivery of data production and checking
  • Being responsible for Lead System and Integration Testing
  • Participating in FRACAS and problem-solving issues post commissioning and lead solution across teams
  • Ensuring the technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of work, in order that successful project implementation and future reliability is achieved
What you’ll need to succeed
  • Good background in System Engineering technical systems
  • Membership of a relevant Engineering Institution
  • HNC/HND in Engineering or related subject
  • Experience in Railway Signalling Systems including VDU Control Centres, TD’s and TDM
  • Experience with AWS, Mendix and GitLab (desirable)
  • Knowledge and experience of Railway Control Systems and/or Operations (desirable)
