Job description

We have an excellent opportunity for a Construction Manager to join our team delivering the HMP Glasgow project.

HMP Glasgow is a flagship project for Kier Strategic Projects, delivering a £750M new build custodial facility northeast of Glasgow city. The Construction Manager will lead the delivery of the front of house building element of the campus, overseeing a £50M+ steel frame building housing all front of house and office facilities for the prison.

What will you be responsible for?

• Leading and overseeing the successful delivery of a high-value, technically complex commercial building that is a major element of the overall campus.
• Driving the project to achieve completion on time and within budget, ensuring safety and quality, by empowering and guiding the site team.
• Taking overall responsibility for applying Kier's SHE policies and procedures, ensuring compliance from all employees and subcontractors on site.
• Acting as mentor, line manager, and escalation point for the site team, sharing knowledge and experience to develop others.
• Reporting directly to the Phase Lead with regular updates on progress and addressing challenges collaboratively.
• Promoting Kier's values with our supply chain and customers to exceed expectations and achieve industry-leading results.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Leading on-site delivery of the front of house building from pre-construction to handover, overseeing site managers and supervisors.
• Ensuring work progresses safely and meets Kier and client quality expectations.
• Developing detailed plans aligned with the overall project plan to manage materials, resources, and supply chain performance.
• Managing the supply chain to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality, safety, and sustainability standards.
• Ensuring compliance with the Business Management System.
• Maintaining effective records for project delivery.
• Being an ambassador for Kier values, with a focus on safety and quality.

What are we looking for?

This role is ideal if you:

• Have significant experience in the main contracting environment, delivering construction projects of £40M+.
• Hold a relevant Construction Qualification Degree or equivalent.
• Are working towards or hold membership with a professional body (e.g., CIOB/ICE).
• Are IT literate, including Word, Excel, and project management software like ASTA PowerProject or Microsoft Project.
• Hold a 5-day SMSTS, CSCS Card, First Aid Certificate, and a Full UK Driving Licence.
