Job description

We are looking to strengthen our Operations team with a Construction Manager based at Cambridge/Peterborough with hybrid working available.

You will report directly to the Project Lead, and your role will involve the construction management of a major new project to build a modern wastewater treatment plant at Honey Hill, just north of the A14 between Horningsea and Fen Ditton. This new plant will replace the current one in the northeast of Cambridge.

Key responsibilities will include:

1. Early involvement in the design phase and providing feedback on construction techniques and buildability to ensure a 'right first time' outcome.
2. Planning, coordinating, and executing site works safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, in line with project plans, design drawings, specifications, and schedules.
3. Conducting site inspections, reviewing method statements and risk assessments, and implementing safe systems of work.
4. Delivering collaboration and coordination sessions with self-delivery and supply chain teams.
5. Coordinating with the supply chain to ensure their works are executed safely and efficiently.
6. Ensuring plant equipment/machinery are in good working order with valid certificates.
7. Managing the ordering and operation of hired internal and external equipment to optimize performance and reduce costs.
8. Promoting a safety-first culture on site through safety, health, and well-being initiatives.

About The Candidate

Essential:

• NVQ Level 4 or above.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Understanding of engineering principles.
• Competence with digital tools.
• Formal training in Health & Safety and Environmental management (SMSTS minimum).
• Relevant CSCS Card.
• Driving license and willingness to travel to sites across the operational region.
