Job summary

Munich Re is seeking an experienced underwriter to contribute to the development and promotion of Engineering and Construction products with a focus on construction liability. You will underwrite new and renewal business in line with guidelines and appetite, and manage end-to-end cases for an allocated portfolio to deliver joint business development plans.

Qualifications

• High level construction liability underwriting knowledge.
• Understanding of technical underwriting, philosophy and trading strategy.
• Ability to interpret and effectively use management information.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of the local insurance market practices.
• Build internal relationships with Line of Business Managers, team members, Underwriters, the Claims Department and the Syndicate.
• Develop external relationships with a range of contacts within the allocated intermediaries, customers and local market.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal business in line with underwriting guidelines and appetite.
• Work with intermediary/customer, undertake end-to-end handling of cases for the allocated portfolio to deliver joint business development plans.
• Make effective on-site decisions within delegated authority for allocated intermediaries so that work is completed efficiently.
• Deal with complex accounts, ensuring tailored solutions and risk appropriate decisions.
• Plan and process own work to meet customer service and credit control targets.
• Undertake other duties as directed within the level of the job function.
