A recognized brand in the southeast of England is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction lawyer to join an esteemed in-house legal team characterized by a small, supportive environment. The candidate will provide commercially-minded legal advice, draft and negotiate contracts like NEC and JCT, and support a collaborative legal team specializing in construction and commercial law. Qualifications

  • Qualified lawyer in England and Wales with experience in construction law.
  • Trained at a well-regarded law firm or in-house, preferably in the energy/utilities sector.
  • Experience in drafting NEC and JCT contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and provide legal advice on NEC, JCT contracts.
  • Interact with engineering and project teams from pre-tender to completion.
  • Prepare claims and liaise with third parties and external lawyers.

My client, a recognised brand in the southeast of England is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction lawyer to join an esteemed in-house legal team. You will have the opportunity to join a close knit and collaborative work environment, characterised by a small but supportive team. The successful candidate will be an expert in the drafting and negotiation of various contract types such as NEC and JCT.

Duties include:

  • Draft, review, negotiate and provide commercially minded legal advice on NEC, JCT contractual documents.
  • Interaction with the engineering, procurement, and project teams from pre-tender stage through to completion
  • On adjudication process and be responsible for preparing the claim and liaising with third parties and external lawyers as required.
  • Advising the business on applicable law and regulations.
  • Supporting the Head of Legal

The successful candidate will have/be:

  • Qualified lawyer in England and Wales
  • Trained with a well-regarded law firm or in-house preferably with knowledge of the energy or utilities sector
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating various construction contracts such as NEC and JCT
  • Confident lawyer with practical construction and commercial law experience
  • Experience working on complex projects with ability to multi-task, problem solve and balance competing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Package:

  • Up to £85,000
  • Excellent Stakeholder pension scheme, up to 10% employer contribution
