Job summary

Skilled Careers is seeking a Cost Manager to assist in all aspects of financial management on construction projects, reporting to the Senior Cost Manager. The role involves cost control, tender preparation, and commercial evaluation across architectural, structural, and MEP packages.

You will liaise with contractors and client representatives to keep costs and change orders in check, ensure up-to-date accounts, and help with interim valuations and final accounts.

Qualifications

• Quantity Surveying practical work experience on large commercial projects is desirable.
• A degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) are essential.
• Strong negotiation skills are essential.
• Computer literacy is required for this role.

Responsibilities

• Discharge responsibilities for health and safety per the manual and plan.
• Manage elements of work allocated by the Senior Cost Manager/Commercial Executive.
• Assist with development of approved tender lists and tender documentation.
• Assist with commercial evaluation of tenders and prepare recommendation reports.
• Assist with preparation of contract documentation for execution.
• Review trade contracts and consultant submittals from a commercial perspective.
• Liaise with contractors and client representatives to ensure costs and change orders are managed.
• Ensure accounts are kept up to date throughout contract durations.
• Assist in inspection of works for quality and commercial completion.
• Prepare interim valuations for progress payments and negotiate final accounts.
• Assist with cash flow forecasting and cost statements.
• Assist with insurance claim documentation.
• Carry out other duties as requested by Senior Cost Manager/Commercial Executive/Associate Director Commercial.
