Skilled Careers is seeking a Cost Manager to assist in all aspects of financial management on construction projects, reporting to the Senior Cost Manager. The role involves cost control, tender preparation, and commercial evaluation across architectural, structural, and MEP packages.

You will liaise with contractors and client representatives to keep costs and change orders in check, ensure up-to-date accounts, and help with interim valuations and final accounts.

Qualifikationen

• Quantity Surveying practical work experience on large commercial projects is desirable.
• A degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) are essential.
• Strong negotiation skills are essential.
• Computer literacy is required for this role.

• Manage elements of work allocated by the Senior Cost Manager/Commercial Executive.
• Assist with development of approved tender lists and tender documentation.

• Review trade contracts and consultant submittals from a commercial perspective.

Job Title – Cost Manager (Architectural/Structural/MEP)

Reporting to – Senior Cost Manager

Job Summary – Responsible for assisting in all aspects of the financial management of a construction project.

Responsibilities

1. Discharge responsibilities for Health and Safety as set out in theHealth Safety and Welfare manual also the Construction Health and Safety Plan both in respect of the package and integration of the overall project.
2. Manages specific elements of work allocated by the Senior Cost Manager/Commercial Executive.
3. Assist with development of approved tender lists.
4. Assist with preparation of tender documentation.
5. Assist with commercial evaluation of tenders including meetings, supplemental bid documentation, and recommendation report.
6. Assist with preparation of contract documentation for execution.
7. Review trade contract and consultant submittals from a commercial perspective, report and respond, including requests for information, as necessary.
8. Liaise with contractors and/or Client representatives to ensure instructions raised/acted upon, costs received, agreed and change orders issued on a regular basis.
9. Ensure accounts are kept up to date throughout the various contract durations.
10. Assist in inspection of trade contract works for quality and completion from a commercial perspective, and advice and/or resolve, as necessary.
11. Prepare interim valuations for progress payment.
12. Negotiate and prepare final accounts.
13. Assist with cash flow forecasting and monitoring.
14. Prepare relevant elements of the cost statement.
15. Assist with the preparation of Insurance claim documentation.
16. Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested and assigned by the Senior Cost Manager/Commercial Executive/Associate Director Commercial.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

1. Quantity Surveying practical work experience, ideally on large commercial office/residential/retail projects, is highly desirable.
2. A degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred.
3. The individual should possess excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
4. Strong negotiation skills are essential.
5. Computer Literacy is an essential requirement of this role.
6. It is essential that the incumbent is able to maintain excellent working relationships with the rest of a diverse project team and all levels of the organisation, on a one to one and group basis.
