Countryside Classroom in Aberdeen is seeking an Northeast Coordinator to lead a high-profile conservation initiative aimed at eradicating grey squirrels from Aberdeen and surrounding areas. You will work with a collaborative project team, partner agencies and stakeholders on confirmation monitoring, biosecurity, and long-term programme sustainability.

The role emphasizes leadership, wildlife ecology expertise, and effective dissemination of best practices through guidance documents.

Qualifications

  • Relevant degree in ecology or similar.
  • Two years’ experience in wildlife ecology or conservation.
  • Proven leadership and staff management skills.
  • Experience developing and managing conservation projects.
  • Expertise in ecological survey design, data collection and analysis.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Interest in disseminating best practices via guidance documents.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee Northeast team activities, including line management.
  • Develop national activity guidance documents to share proven practices and lessons learned in Northeast.
  • Support monitoring, respond to potential grey squirrel sightings, and plan transition to long-term sustainability.
