Senior Ecology Consultant - Hybrid Role, Lead Projects

Job summary

The Environment Partnership is seeking an experienced ecologist to lead and contribute to diverse ecological projects in the Gateshead area. You will use field survey, assessment and reporting skills to support planning, licencing and biodiversity objectives.

Candidates with 4–5 years of ecology experience, strong communication, and project management skills are encouraged to apply. Hybrid working and career growth in the Ecology team are offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Ecology or related discipline.
• CIEEM membership.
• Experience designing and delivering ecological surveys in a development/planning context.
• Strong project management and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, planners and regulators.
• Experience producing ecological reports (e.g. PEAs, EcIAs and mitigation strategies).
• Experience with Biodiversity Net Gain and habitat surveys desirable.
• Protected species licence (particularly bats) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to a diverse range of projects using field survey, assessment and reporting skills.
• Build a project portfolio and client relationships in the northeast, with growth of the Ecology team in Gateshead.
• Help clients navigate planning and licensing processes.
• Monitor financial performance of designated projects.
• Lead on and contribute to fee proposals for work.
