Job summary

The RAF Association in Leicester is seeking a Connections for Life Administrator to support volunteer recruitment and onboarding and to onboard beneficiaries into the Connections for Life service. You will engage with volunteers and stakeholders, conduct interviews and reference checks, and maintain detailed CRM records.

The role requires strong communication, organisation and a positive, proactive attitude, with attention to detail and empathy for beneficiaries and volunteers alike.

Qualifications

  • Good level of education including Maths and English at GCSE level.
  • Experience recruiting others using a formal process (interviews, background checks etc)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Salesforce CRM
  • Articulate, enthusiastic and a creative problem solver
  • Able to establish a rapport and motivate a variety of people (volunteers, beneficiaries and other stakeholders)
  • Excellent telephone manner and attention to detail
  • Broad range of office administration skills

Responsibilities

  • Be the first point of contact for volunteering queries, recruitment and selection.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of volunteers across a wide range of roles, including reference checks and DBS checks.
  • Conduct onboarding conversations for beneficiaries entering the service via phone or MS Teams.
  • Liaise with internal groups to update on recruitment requests and progress.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records in line with service standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Identify and follow up opportunities to recruit volunteers and onboard beneficiaries.
  • Manage volunteering promotion and contribute to marketing plans.

About the role

The RAF Association aims to ensure all members of RAF community remain connected and supported. Through the Association’s Connections for Life service, volunteers regularly contact and support lonely or isolated individuals, and provide friendship, conversation and highlight the services and support available to them. The Connections Administrator plays a central role in supporting both volunteer recruitment, onboarding and selection, and the onboarding of beneficiaries into the Connections for Life service. This role requires creativity, strong communication skills, drive and a positive attitude when working with a wide range of people at all levels. Success is defined by recruiting high‑quality volunteers across a variety of roles—including Caseworker, Connections for Life and Branch positions—and by delivering a smooth, supportive and person‑centred onboarding experience for Beneficiaries.

Key Responsibilities include
  • To be the first point of contact for all volunteering queries, recruitment and selection.
  • Support the recruitment and onboarding of volunteers across a wide range of roles, including completing reference checks, conducting disclosure and barring checks, and carrying out telephone or virtual interviews.
  • Deliver onboarding conversations via phone or MS Teams for beneficiaries entering the Connections for Life service, including those who may be facing challenges or uncertainty. Ensure each person feels welcomed, clearly informed, and fully supported,
  • Liaising with internal groups (training, welfare and fundraising) to update on recruitment requests and progress.
  • To maintain accurate and up-to-date records on the Association’s Salesforce CRM system and maintain high quality records in line with service standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong, cooperative and professional working relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders and corporate partners.
  • To identify and follow up all opportunities to recruit volunteers and onboard beneficiaries.
  • To manage volunteering promotion, press and publicity in line with the marketing plan and feed into creative ideas.
About You

We're looking for someone with:

Desirable
  • Awareness of the work of the RAF Association
  • Previous personal volunteer experience
  • Experience of undertaking Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks is highly desirable
