Job summary

IO Associates is assisting an established UK engineering organisation with a PLM transformation. The Configuration Engineer will migrate and configure engineering data, CAD designs and documentation into the new PLM system, ensuring configuration accuracy and control throughout the transition.

The role is a remote contract (initial onboarding requires 4 days onsite in Barnstaple, North Devon) and involves close collaboration with engineering and project teams to apply configuration management

Qualifications

• Background in Configuration Engineering or Configuration Management.
• Experience with engineering drawings and CAD data.
• Understanding of PLM/PDM systems and configuration control.
• Ability to gather, validate and organise technical information across teams.

Responsibilities

I’m working with an established UK engineering organisation supporting a major transformation of its engineering systems and processes.

They’re implementing a new Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and need a Configuration Engineer to support the transition of engineering data, CAD designs and associated documentation into the new environment.

This is a hands‑on role working closely with engineering and project teams to understand existing design information, ensure configuration accuracy and support the successful adoption of the new PLM system.

The role:

• Work closely with engineers and project teams to understand existing CAD designs, engineering data and documentation.
• Support the migration and configuration of engineering information into the new PLM system.
• Ensure engineering data is accurate, structured and appropriately controlled.
• Apply configuration management principles across engineering designs, documentation and product information.
• Support the wider PLM transformation, helping establish effective processes and best practices.

What we’re looking for:

• Background in Configuration Engineering, Configuration Management or CAD Design.
• Experience working with engineering drawings, CAD data and technical documentation.
• Understanding of PLM/PDM systems and engineering configuration control.
• Comfortable working across engineering teams to gather, validate and organise technical information.

Defence experience is not essential. We’re equally interested in individuals fromcommercial engineering environments.

Contract details:

• £300 per day – Inside IR35
• Initial 6-month contract
• Remote working following onboarding
• Initial 4 days for onboarding onsite in Barnstaple, North Devon
• BPSS screening will be conducted
