Job summary

Sopwell House in Hertfordshire seeks a Conference & Banqueting Floor Manager for a full-time 45-hour week. Salary £31,950 per annum plus service charge.

Lead a lively team delivering exceptional service across conferences, weddings and events, while overseeing setup, client liaison, stock control, and bar operations. The role emphasises hands-on leadership, strong organisational and communication skills, and flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Conference & Banqueting supervisory or management role.
• Experience with beverage service, stock control and cash-handling procedures.
• Experience leading, training and motivating a team in busy events.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills; able to liaise with clients.
• Hands-on, guest-focused approach with attention to detail and calm under pressure.
• Flexible to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead, brief and support the Conference & Banqueting team to deliver exceptional service across conferences, weddings and events.
• Allocate duties, oversee performance and provide training, feedback and guidance to maintain high standards.
• Oversee setup and delivery of events per Banquet Event Orders and client requirements.
• Act as main operational contact for clients, coordinating with Events, Kitchen and F&B teams.
• Support banqueting bar operations, including beverage ordering, stock rotation and stocktake prep.
• Ensure accurate cash handling, billing, banking and shift handovers.
• Maintain cleanliness, organisation and presentation across Conference & Banqueting areas.
• Take responsibility in absence of senior managers and ensure health and safety, food hygiene and licensing procedures are followed.
