Job summary

Sopwell House in St Albans is seeking a Conference & Banqueting Floor Manager to lead our events team across conferences, weddings and special events. This full-time role is 45 hours per week with a salary of £31,950 per annum plus service charge, reflecting the high standards of our five-star Georgian country house.

You will supervise, train and motivate a team; coordinate with Events, Kitchen and F&B; ensure impeccable service, health and safety, and client satisfaction in every event.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Conference & Banqueting supervisory or management role.
• Banqueting bar experience with beverage service and cash handling.
• Experience leading, training and motivating a team in events.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills with clients.
• Hands-on guest-focused approach with attention to detail.
• Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead, brief and support the Conference & Banqueting team to deliver exceptional service across conferences, weddings and special events
• Allocate duties, oversee performance and provide training, feedback and guidance to maintain consistently high standards
• Oversee the setup and delivery of events in accordance with Banquet Event Orders, client requirements and hotel standards
• Act as the main operational contact for clients, coordinating closely with the Events, Kitchen and wider Food & Beverage teams
• Support banqueting bar operations, including beverage ordering, stock rotation, stocktake preparation and maintaining clean, organised bar areas
• Ensure cash handling, billing, banking and shift handovers are completely accurately and communicated effectively
• Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation throughout all Conference & Banqueting areas
• Take responsibility in the absence of senior managers and ensure all health and safety, food hygiene, licensing and company procedures are followed
