Job summary

SSEN Transmission, part of SSE, seeks a skilled Condition Monitoring and Asset Intelligence Manager based in Scotland. You will lead a multidisciplinary team to turn monitoring data into trusted insights guiding maintenance and investment decisions.

You will develop strategy, manage engineers and data specialists, and communicate clear recommendations to engineers and senior stakeholders. The role requires a degree or professional qualification and a collaborative, inclusive management style.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a technical, engineering or analytical team.
• Practical experience in condition monitoring, diagnostics, reliability engineering, asset performance or asset data analysis.
• Ability to interpret complex technical information and turn into clear, proportionate recommendations.
• Experience working across engineering, operations, projects, digital teams and suppliers.
• A relevant degree or professional qualification with collaborative management style.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the condition monitoring and asset intelligence strategy.
• Manage and develop a growing team of condition monitoring engineers, data analysts and asset intelligence specialists.
• Ensure monitoring and analytical outputs are robust, traceable and clearly communicate their confidence, limitations and recommended actions.
• Establish effective arrangements for selecting, testing, onboarding, operating and retiring monitoring solutions, working across engineering, operations, projects and digital teams.
• Identify emerging asset issues and trends and turn complex technical information into clear recommendations for engineers and senior stakeholders.

Job description

Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office – Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness

Salary: £59,800 - £89,800 +performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

As Condition Monitoring and Asset Intelligence Manager, you will manage a growing multidisciplinary team that turns monitoring and operational data into trusted insight about the health and performance of our transmission assets. You will shape the future of this capability, helping the business identify emerging risks earlier and make better-informed maintenance, lifecycle and investment choices.

You will

• Develop and deliver the condition monitoring and asset intelligence strategy, focusing activity on asset risk, known failure modes and where insight can improve choices.
• Manage and develop a growing team of condition monitoring engineers, data analysts and asset intelligence specialists.
• Ensure monitoring and analytical outputs are robust, traceable and clearly communicate their confidence, limitations and recommended actions.
• Establish effective arrangements for selecting, testing, onboarding, operating and retiring monitoring solutions, working across engineering, operations, projects and digital teams.
• Identify emerging asset issues and trends and turn complex technical information into clear recommendations for engineers and senior stakeholders.

You have

• Experience managing a technical, engineering or analytical team and developing capability through change or growth.
• Practical experience in condition monitoring, diagnostics, reliability engineering, asset performance or asset data analysis.
• The ability to interpret complex technical and analytical information and turn it into clear, proportionate recommendations.
• Experience working effectively across engineering, operations, projects, digital teams and specialist suppliers.
• A relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent practical experience, together with a collaborative and inclusive management style.
