Hotel Concierge / Food and Beverage Assistant

To offer information and assistance to visitors and hotel guests regarding hotel facilities, local attractions, dining, entertainment, transportation, sports events, recreation, tours, health and beauty treatments, childcare, cultural events, shopping, etc., while projecting a positive image at all times. This role is based at a well-established hotel chain in Central London.

Please note: This is not a security role. Candidates must be prepared to carry out Food and Beverage duties, including working behind the bar.

Job Overview

We are offering a fantastic opportunity for a Hotel Concierge / Food and Beverage Assistant to provide information and assistance to visitors and hotel guests about hotel facilities, local attractions, and services, while maintaining a positive image of the hotel and company.

As a Hotel Concierge / Food and Beverage Assistant, you will keep an up-to-date folder at the Concierge desk with information on restaurants, entertainment venues, transportation, car hire, airport transfers, health and beauty treatments, childcare, cultural events, courier services, laundry facilities, shopping, and other guest interests.

You will maintain a courteous and professional manner on the phone, delivering faxes, messages, and correspondence promptly and efficiently.

Responsibilities
Administration
  • Maintain a supply of local maps, brochures, and magazines with relevant information.
  • Record all bookings for guests (taxis, restaurants, childcare, tours, car hire, mobile phone hire, etc.).
  • Keep records of laundry orders, pickups, and deliveries.
  • Deliver faxes, messages, and correspondence promptly.
  • Display hotel and company brochures prominently at the Concierge desk.
  • Obtain guest lists from reception at the start of each shift.
Telephone
  • Be familiar with all telephone and fax equipment.
  • Maintain knowledge of all extension numbers in the hotel.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional telephone manner.
  • Record and pass messages promptly.
Guest Services
  • Welcome guests, assist with luggage, escort to rooms, and inform about hotel facilities.
  • Attend to guests at the Concierge desk and in the lobby courteously and efficiently.
  • Respond to guest inquiries politely and seek assistance from other departments when needed.
  • Handle laundry and room moves efficiently, following procedures.
  • Serve drinks and snacks in the bar and lobby, adhering to licensing laws.
  • Identify and welcome back returning guests.
  • Recommend hotel facilities and services, including those of sister hotels.
  • Use only approved or contracted suppliers for guest services.
  • Handle complaints professionally, seeking assistance from senior staff if necessary.
Accounting and Cashiering
  • Ensure the security of all money at the Concierge desk.
  • Be familiar with deposit and payment policies.
  • Inform guests of charges, including any commissions.
  • Apply correct laundry charges and keep records of transactions.
General
  • Be fully familiar with hotel and room facilities.
  • Keep the Concierge desk and lobby tidy.
  • Carry out minor repairs when necessary.
  • Arrive punctually for shifts.
  • Ensure proper handover between shifts.
