Job summary

Kingston University London International Study Centre, operated by Study Group, is seeking a tutor to teach across a range of Computer Science modules and contribute to the design, delivery and assessment of courses at Foundation level. The role involves creating engaging teaching materials, preparing seminars, and acting as a Personal Tutor to support student success.

The post is a fixed-term, variable-hour contract to 31 August 2027 with an hourly rate up to £35.87.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or closely related field.
  • Master’s in CS/SE/Cybersecurity or closely related discipline (Desirable).
  • Teaching qualification or significant experience with students.
  • Experience and capability of writing comprehensive modules at level 3.
  • Experience teaching CS modules in UK HE/FE or relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with Object-Oriented programming (MATLAB, Python).
  • Experience in Web design (JavaScript) is preferable.
  • Experience teaching in UK HE/FE and with international students.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, delivery and development of modules offered by the Kingston University London International Study Centre.
  • Prepare and deliver teaching lessons, including seminars and tutorials.
  • Write and prepare unit examinations and other formative/summative assessments.
  • Mark submissions and provide timely feedback, tutorials and student reports.
  • Develop and update course material and VLE content.
  • Coordinate with administration on induction, registration and welfare support.
  • Monitor student progression and implement intervention strategies.
  • Act as a Personal Tutor for groups of students.

Location: Kingston Upon Thames, Kingston University International Study Centre

Salary: up to £35.87 per hour

The Kingston University London International Study Centre, operated by Study Group, is seeking a dedicated tutor to teach across a range of Computer Science modules.

In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of high-quality teaching and learning materials at both Foundation (RQF Level 3). You will collaborate with colleagues across the Centre to ensure programmes align with our teaching, learning, and assessment strategy, and support an outstanding student experience.

Additionally, you will provide academic support to students and play an active role in developing and implementing innovative teaching practices.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Student learning experience
  • Contribute to the design, delivery and development of modules offered by the Kingston University London International Study Centre.
  • Prepare and deliver teaching lessons, Including, seminars and tutorial sessions.
  • Write and prepare unit examinations and other forms of formative and summative assessment.
  • Mark students’ formative and summative assessment submissions and provide timely feedback to students on their performance, including tutorials and writing regular student reports.
  • Develop and update course material for modules and teaching sessions, including module material for the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
  • Work with the Centre’s administration team in the delivery of induction, orientation and registration programmes.
  • Notify and liaise with colleagues, where necessary, to ensure all students receive appropriate on-going welfare and progression support.
  • Track students’ academic journey and identify and implement appropriate intervention strategies to support on-going learning.
  • Act as a Personal Tutor for one or more groups of students.
Quality and standards assurance and enhancement
  • Implement quality assurance procedures at module and teaching session level and contribute to the annual monitoring and review of courses.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students’ attendance, engagement, and performance.
  • Attend and contribute to standardisation, moderation, and other quality assurance meetings.
Academic management and personal development
  • Participate in regular meetings with teaching and support staff contributing to the effective overall management of the programme and student life cycle.
  • Participate in the Centre and University governance structure, including attending all compulsory meetings.
  • Maintain and submit accurate and timely records of teaching and other activities.
  • Participate in regular training and development activities and maintain a log of these activities.
ABOUT YOU
  • A Bachelor's degree (Essential) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • A Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity or a closely related discipline (Desirable).
  • Relevant Teaching Qualification or significant experience working with students.
  • Experience and capability of writing comprehensive modules at level 3.
  • Experience teaching computer science modules in the UK Higher or Further education sector, or relevant industry experience that translates well to the classroom.
  • Experience with Object-Oriented programming (MATLAB, Python)
  • Experience in Web designing (JavaScript) is preferable
  • Experience of teaching in the UK Higher or Further education sector and preferably qualification and experience of working with international students.
