Job summary

The Kingston University London International Study Centre, operated by Study Group, is seeking a dedicated tutor to teach across a range of Mathematics, and Statistics with Project Skills modules.

You will contribute to the design, development and delivery of high-quality teaching materials at Foundation (RQF Level 3) and collaborate with colleagues to ensure programmes align with our teaching, learning and assessment strategy, and support an outstanding student experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject area is essential.
• Master's degree in a relevant field is desirable.
• Relevant teaching qualification or experience with students.

Responsibilities

• Design, delivery and development of modules at the Kingston University London International Study Centre.
• Prepare and deliver teaching lessons, seminars and tutorials.
• Write and prepare examinations and formative assessments.
• Mark assessments and provide timely feedback with tutorials and reports.
• Develop and update course materials including VLE content.
• Coordinate induction, orientation and registration programs.
• Act as Personal Tutor for groups of students.

Salary: up to £35.87 per hour

The Kingston University London International Study Centre, operated by Study Group, is seeking a dedicated tutor to teach across a range of Mathematics, and Statistics with Project Skills modules.

In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of high-quality teaching and learning materials at Foundation (RQF Level 3). You will collaborate with colleagues across the Centre to ensure programmes align with our teaching, learning, and assessment strategy, and support an outstanding student experience.

Additionally, you will provide academic support to students and play an active role in developing and implementing innovative teaching practices.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Student learning experience

• Contribute to the design, delivery and development of modules offered by the Kingston University London International Study Centre.
• Prepare and deliver teaching lessons, Including, seminars and tutorial sessions.
• Write and prepare unit examinations and other forms of formative and summative assessment.
• Mark students' formative and summative assessment submissions and provide timely feedback to students on their performance, including tutorials and writing regular student reports.
• Develop and update course material for modules and teaching sessions, including module material for the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
• Work with the Centre's administration team in the delivery of induction, orientation and registration programmes.
• Notify and liaise with colleagues, where necessary, to ensure all students receive appropriate on-going welfare and progression support.
• Track students' academic journey and identify and implement appropriate intervention strategies to support on-going learning.
• Act as a Personal Tutor for one or more groups of students.

Quality and standards assurance and enhancement

• Implement quality assurance procedures at module and teaching session level and contribute to the annual monitoring and review of courses.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students' attendance, engagement, and performance.
• Attend and contribute to standardisation, moderation, and other quality assurance meetings.

Academic management and personal development

• Participate in regular meetings with teaching and support staff contributing to the effective overall management of the programme and student life cycle.
• Participate in the Centre and University governance structure, including attending all compulsory meetings.
• Maintain and submit accurate and timely records of teaching and other activities.
• Participate in regular training and development activities and maintain a log of these activities.

ABOUT YOU

• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject area (Essential)
• A Master's degree in a relevant field such (Desirable)
• Relevant Teaching Qualification or significant experience working with students.
• Experience and capability of writing comprehensive modules at level 3.
• Experience teaching mathematics and statistics modules in the UK Higher or Further education sector, or relevant industry experience that translates well to the classroom.
• Knowledge of numerical software e.g. MATLAB and SPSS.
• Candidates with further qualifications in the subject area are welcome.
• Experience of teaching in the UK Higher or Further education sector and preferably a teaching qualification and experience of working with international students.
