Job summary

Study Group at Kingston University London International Study Centre is seeking a tutor to teach Computer Science modules across Foundation level and contribute to curriculum design and student support.

You will deliver lessons, create assessments, and provide feedback while collaborating with colleagues to align teaching with the Centre and university strategies. The role involves personal tutoring and active involvement in quality assurance processes.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree (Essential) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or closely related discipline.
• A Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity or a closely related discipline (Desirable).
• Relevant Teaching Qualification or significant experience working with students.
• Experience and capability of writing comprehensive modules at level 3.
• Experience teaching computer science modules in the UK Higher or Further education sector, or relevant industry experience that translates well to the classroom.
• Experience with Object-Oriented programming (MATLAB, Python).
• Experience of teaching in the UK Higher or Further education sector and preferably qualification and experience of working with international students.

Responsibilities

• Design, deliver and develop modules offered by Kingston University London International Study Centre.
• Prepare and deliver teaching lessons, including seminars and tutorials.
• Write and prepare unit examinations and other formative and summative assessments.
• Mark assessments and provide timely feedback to students.
• Develop and update course material for modules and VLE sessions.
• Coordinate with the Centre’s administration for induction and registration.
• Liaise with colleagues to ensure welfare and progression support for students.
• Act as a Personal Tutor for groups of students.
• Participate in quality assurance, standardisation and moderation activities.

Contract Type: Variable Hour, Fixed-Term to 31/08/2027

Location: Kingston Upon Thames, Kingston University International Study Centre

Salary: up to £35.87 per hour

The Kingston University London International Study Centre, operated by Study Group, is seeking a dedicated tutor to teach across a range of Computer Science modules.

In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of high-quality teaching and learning materials at both Foundation (RQF Level 3). You will collaborate with colleagues across the Centre to ensure programmes align with our teaching, learning, and assessment strategy, and support an outstanding student experience. Additionally, you will provide academic support to students and play an active role in developing and implementing innovative teaching practices.

Student learning experience

• Contribute to the design, delivery and development of modules offered by the Kingston University London International Study Centre.
• Prepare and deliver teaching lessons, Including, seminars and tutorial sessions.
• Write and prepare unit examinations and other forms of formative and summative assessment.
• Mark students’ formative and summative assessment submissions and provide timely feedback to students on their performance, including tutorials and writing regular student reports.
• Develop and update course material for modules and teaching sessions, including module material for the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
• Work with the Centre’s administration team in the delivery of induction, orientation and registration programmes.
• Notify and liaise with colleagues, where necessary, to ensure all students receive appropriate on-going welfare and progression support.
• Track students’ academic journey and identify and implement appropriate intervention strategies to support on-going learning.
• Act as a Personal Tutor for one or more groups of students.

Quality and standards assurance and enhancement

• Implement quality assurance procedures at module and teaching session level and contribute to the annual monitoring and review of courses.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students’ attendance, engagement, and performance.
• Attend and contribute to standardisation, moderation, and other quality assurance meetings.

Academic management and personal development

• Participate in regular meetings with teaching and support staff contributing to the effective overall management of the programme and student life cycle.
• Participate in the Centre and University governance structure, including attending all compulsory meetings.
• Maintain and submit accurate and timely records of teaching and other activities.
• Participate in regular training and development activities and maintain a log of these activities.

ABOUT YOU
