Job summary

Candour is seeking a Computer Science Researcher in Huddersfield for an onsite role, delivering innovative research and building proof-of-concepts for future capabilities. The position emphasizes strong Java, Python, and Bash skills and a research-driven mindset.

You will report to the software engineering team, work on customer-funded projects, and contribute to security-focused research while navigating complex data confidentiality requirements.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science or related discipline is required.
• Strong Java skills; experience with Python and Bash.
• Experience conducting innovative CS research and designing experiments.
• Strong technical research and report-writing skills.
• Ability to present complex research to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience designing solutions that protect data confidentiality, integrity and availability.
• Innovator’s mindset and willingness to tackle problems where “impossible” isn’t an answer.
• Experience in privacy research, non-HTTP protocols, mobile apps, 5G/cellular networks, vulnerability research, or air-gapped systems is valuable.
• Motivated by a mission to defend democracy.

Computer Science Researcher | £40,000–£60,000 | Huddersfield I Onsite

I am looking for a Computer Science Researcher to join a software engineering team, delivering innovative internal and customer-funded research and building proof-of-concepts and prototypes for future in-service capabilities.

What I am looking for:

• A PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline
• Strong Java skills, with experience in Python and Bash
• Experience conducting innovative computer science research and designing experiments using the scientific method
• Strong technical research and report-writing skills
• Confidence presenting complex research to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience designing solutions that protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data
• An innovator’s mindset and a willingness to tackle problems where “impossible” isn’t an answer

Experience in areas such as privacy research, non-HTTP protocols, mobile applications, 5G/cellular networks, vulnerability research, or air-gapped systems would be highly valuable.
