Job summary

Avonside School in Bristol is seeking a Computer Science Instructor to deliver high-quality Computer Science and IT lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will support students with a range of learning needs, promoting independence, confidence and resilience within a multidisciplinary team.

You will ideally have experience delivering Computer Science/IT, a teaching qualification, and strong knowledge of digital technologies. A commitment to safeguarding and inclusion is essential.

As a Computer Science Instructor, you will play a key role in delivering an innovative and engaging curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will support students with a range of learning needs, helping them develop both academic and practical technology skills while promoting independence, confidence and resilience.,

• Delivering engaging Computer Science and IT lessons that meet the needs of individual learners.
• Teaching a broad curriculum that develops digital literacy, computing knowledge and practical technology skills.
• Acting as a form tutor and providing pastoral support to students.
• Planning, preparing and delivering lessons that inspire students and promote outstanding progress.
• Monitoring, assessing and tracking student achievement, using data to inform teaching and support development.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals to support student success.
• Contributing to the development of curriculum resources, schemes of work and wider school initiatives.
• Creating a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment that promotes engagement and achievement.
• Supporting students to develop literacy, numeracy, communication and independent learning skills.
• Promoting positive behaviour, wellbeing and strong relationships across the school community.
