Job summary

Auxo Talent in Luton is seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator to join an established engineering and manufacturing business. You will set up, program and operate CNC milling machines or lathes, machining components to tight tolerances from engineering drawings, and maintaining high-quality standards.

The role requires at least 5 years in a similar environment, proficiency with reading drawings, and familiarity with micrometres/calipers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience setting and operating CNC milling machines.
• Experience programming CNC machines would be desirable.
• Experience with CNC vertical mills and/or CNC lathes.
• Experience with Hurco, Fanuc, Mazatrol / Mazak, Siemens / Doosan Puma controls would be advantageous.
• Confident reading and working from engineering drawings.

Double day shifts (early finish Fridays)

Are you a CNC Machine Operator looking to join an established engineering and manufacturing business in Luton?

This role is not just about pushing a button. You’ll need to be confident reading and understanding engineering drawings, working out the material required, setting up the machine and programming and operating it to produce the finished component. You’ll be working with bespoke machinery and low-volume production, so you’ll need to be confident working independently, solving problems and making decisions throughout the machining process.

Hours of Work

Monday to Friday mornings and afternoons rotating

Week 1: 6am – 2.30pm (finish at 1pm on Fridays)

Week 2: 2pm – 10.30pm (finish at 6pm on Fridays)

Job Role:

• Setting, programming and operating CNC milling machines or CNC lathes
• Machining components to engineering drawings and specifications
• Working to close tolerances and high-quality standards
• Reading and interpreting ISO engineering drawings
• Using measuring equipment including micrometres and Vernier callipers
• Checking dimensions and carrying out quality checks throughout the machining process
• Manufacturing and modifying tooling, jigs and fixtures where required
• Making adjustments to machine settings to ensure components meet specification
• Working to production timescales and meeting required job times
• Maintaining a clean and organised workshop environment
• Supporting continuous improvement and 5S activities

Ideal Candidate:

• Minimum 5 years' experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment
• Proven experience setting and operating CNC milling machines
• Experience programming CNC machines would be desirable
• Experience with CNC vertical mills and/or CNC lathes
• Experience with any of Hurco, Fanuc, Mazatrol / Mazak, Siemens / Doosan Puma controls would be advantageous
• Confident reading and working from engineering drawings
• Able to work to close tolerances
• Competent using micrometres, Vernier callipers and other precision measuring equipment
• Manual machining experience would be advantageous
• Time-served apprenticeship would be desirable
