Job summary

Cooper & Hall Limited offers an on-site placement at Aldermaston, near Reading, focusing on computational modelling of materials. You will develop models for ageing, test them with scientists and use MATLAB, Mathematica, OpenFOAM and R to code, analyse data and optimise parameters.

Applicants should be pursuing a 2:2 degree in relevant disciplines and be able to obtain UK DV security clearance. This is a lab-based placement with limited home-working opportunities.

Qualifications

• Working towards at least a 2:2 degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Materials Science or Chemistry.
• Demonstrate modelling experience for Mathematics; strong maths or programming for Chemistry.

Responsibilities

• Model development: Work with scientists to understand material ageing and model trends.
• Data analysis: Apply statistical methods to experiments and extract insights.
• Coding: Write and run code using MATLAB, Mathematica, OpenFOAM and R.
• Testing and optimisation: Validate models against test cases and refine parameters.
