Job summary

iCOMAT, an advanced manufacturing company, seeks a Composites Tooling Engineer to design, develop and maintain tooling systems for composite production. You will collaborate with design, production and quality teams to optimise tooling performance, efficiency and cost, applying expertise in tooling design and composites.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years' tooling design experience in composites, proficiency with CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX) and ANSYS, and a hands-on approach to manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• Hands-on experience in tooling design for composites.
• 3–5 years of tooling design/development in a composite environment.
• Experience with carbon fibre, glass fibre and resins.
• Knowledge of lay‑up, curing, machining, and CNC fixtures.

Responsibilities

• Create tooling models from component CAD to support patterns, moulds, jigs, and fixtures.
• Review CAD for undercuts and draft angles.
• Calculate thermal expansion and cure points for materials.
• Design tooling pockets for airflow/weight saving without collapse.
• Explain design concepts to stakeholders and prepare manufacturing drawings.
• Support New Product Introduction with tooling strategies.
• Coordinate with tooling vendors to ensure quality and performance.
• Assist in quotations with material and design-time costs.
