Lockheed Martin is seeking a Composite, Assembly & Integration Technician for our Advanced Manufacturing Facility in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. Join a fast-paced engineering team to build, integrate, and test complex assemblies including metals and composites, with a 4-day week option.

You will transform early designs into production-ready hardware from ISO drawings, ensuring tolerances and quality, while bridging design and production.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years in high-precision assembly/manufacturing (aerospace/defence/medical/advanced R&D)
  • Ability to read ISO/ANSI engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometres, gauges)
  • Competent with manual and light power tools

Responsibilities

  • Interpret drawings and instructions to assemble precision components
  • Assemble, integrate, and test sub-assemblies and systems
  • Use precision measurement tools to verify dimensions and tolerances
  • Work with metals, composites and adhesives; ensure quality and tolerances
  • Identify build issues and work with engineering to resolve them
  • Maintain build records for traceability and support Lean/6S
  • Achieve appropriate security clearance (SC) level

Assembly Technician – Composites
Ampthill, Bedfordshire, UK
£30,000 - £37,500p/a + BUPA, Benefits, Bonus
37.5 hours per week + 4-day work week option

We are seeking a Composite, Assembly & Integration Technician, to join our team.

This exciting opportunity is based from our Advanced Manufacturing Facility in Ampthill, Bedfordshire and benefits from a 4-Day Working Week (Mon – Thu).

You will be responsible for building, integrating, and testing complex assemblies within a fast‑paced engineering and development environment.

Working from early-stage designs, engineering drawings, and evolving work instructions, you will transform concepts into high‑precision, functional products, including Metals, composites, and advanced adhesives, ensuring all assemblies meet defined engineering tolerances, quality standards, and functional performance requirements.

You will play an important role in bridging the gap between design and production-ready hardware.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical instructions to assemble precision components
  • Carry out mechanical assembly, integration, and basic functional testing of systems and sub-assemblies
  • Use precision measurement equipment to verify dimensions and ensure tolerance compliance
  • Work with a range of materials and processes, including fastening, bonding, and light fabrication
  • Identify build issues or design challenges and work with engineering teams to resolve them
  • Maintain accurate build records and documentation to support traceability and quality requirements Support continuous improvement activities, including Lean / 6S practices and process refinement
  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate level (SC) of security clearance.
Required skills, qualifications and experience

  • Understanding of Lean principles, basic root-cause analysis, and corrective action processes
