Job summary

Morson Edge is seeking an Aerospace Composite Laminator to join a leading aerospace manufacturer on a days-only, on-site basis in Kirbymoorside, North Yorkshire. You will produce high-performance composite components, adhering to exacting engineering standards in a precision-led environment.

The role involves preparing materials and tooling, hand lay-up of pre-preg materials, vacuum-bagging, curing preparation and following detailed drawings and work instructions to ensure defect-free

Qualifications

• Experience as a Composite Laminator in aerospace or precision manufacturing.
• Knowledge of composite materials and pre-preg processes.
• Experience in lay-up, vacuum bagging and autoclave processes.
• Ability to read technical drawings and lay-up books/instructions.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and defect-free components.
• Ability to follow procedures and meet production deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare composite materials, tooling and moulds for lamination.
• Carry out hand lay-up of pre-preg materials to specification.
• Ensure correct ply orientation, sequence and number of plies.
• Vacuum-bag components, perform leak checks and prepare parts for curing.
• Follow engineering drawings and work instructions to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping.

Job Description

As an Aero Composite Laminator, you will play a key role in the manufacture of high-performance composite components for aerospace applications. Working to exacting engineering standards, you will use your technical expertise to produce high-quality, defect-free components in a precision-led manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare composite materials, tooling and moulds for lamination.
• Carry out accurate hand lay-up of pre-preg composite materials in accordance with technical specifications and engineering requirements.
• Ensure the correct orientation, sequence and number of plies for each component.
• Vacuum-bag components, carry out leak checks and prepare parts for curing.
• Follow engineering drawings, lay-up books and detailed work instructions to ensure manufacturing accuracy.
• Maintain consistently high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping throughout the production process.

Skills and Experience

• Proven experience as a Composite Laminator within aerospace, motorsport, high-end automotive or a similarly precision-led manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of composite materials, pre-preg processes and associated manufacturing techniques.
• Experience in composite lay-up, vacuum bagging and autoclave processes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, lay-up books and manufacturing work instructions.
• Excellent attention to detail, with a commitment to producing high-quality, defect-free components.
• Ability to work accurately, follow strict procedures and meet production deadlines.
