Job summary

Rolls-Royce, via AMS, seeks Component Design Engineers to deliver design solutions for components and complex assemblies in Derby and Bristol. Roles support regulated aerospace and energy projects with emphasis on safety, quality, and manufacturability.

You will maintain engineering definitions, work with manufacturing, analysis, and project teams, and contribute to lifecycle activities, verification, validation, and continuous improvement. Umbrella or PAYE engagements only.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Design Engineer within a highly regulated industry such as Aerospace, Defence, Nuclear, Automotive, or Energy.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and methodologies.
• Experience designing components, assemblies, or systems within a complex engineering environment.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacture (DfM) principles.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

• Produce and maintain engineering definitions, models, and technical documentation.

• Support technology development programmes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Purpose of the role:

Deliver design solutions for components and complex assemblies, ensuring safety, quality, manufacturability, and product robustness. Produce and maintain engineering
definitions, models, and technical documentation. Work closely with manufacturing, analysis, project, and customer teams to deliver engineering solutions. Support product lifecycle activities, including design updates, verification, validation, and in-service investigations. Evaluate operational performance and reliability data to drive product improvements. Support technology development programmes and continuous improvement initiatives. Develop and maintain engineering methods, standards, tools, and best practice guidance. Capture and apply lessons learned throughout the design lifecycle.

As a Component Design Engineeryou will:

• Experience as a Design Engineer within a highly regulated industry such as Aerospace, Defence, Nuclear, Automotive, or Energy.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and methodologies.
• Experience designing components, assemblies, or systems within a complex engineering environment.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacture
  (DfM) principles.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
