Job Description

Ultra Precision Control Systems (PCS) seeks a Compliance Quality Engineer to join our Quality team. This role ensures all products and processes meet aerospace and defense standards and regulatory requirements, including CAA Part 21J & G, CAA & EASA Part 145, AS9100, ISO 9001, among others. Responsibilities include conducting audits, managing corrective actions, and driving continuous improvement to safeguard product integrity, support customer satisfaction, and improve operational efficiency. The role is vital in maintaining our commitment to quality, safety, and compliance within the aerospace and defense sectors.

The engineer will ensure compliance with industry standards in manufacturing processes, conduct audits, manage non-conformances, and provide guidance on regulatory and customer requirements, focusing on CAA Part 21J & G, CAA & EASA Part 145, AS9100, and ISO 9001.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all processes, products, and services comply with aerospace and defense regulations and are properly communicated down the supply chain.
  2. Audits: Conduct internal and supplier audits, identify non-conformances, risks, and improvement opportunities, and collaborate on corrective actions.
  3. Continuous Improvement: Lead quality initiatives using root cause analysis and lean methodologies to enhance reliability and reduce defects.
  4. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain quality records, audit reports, and certifications; report on quality KPIs; ensure integrity of process reviews and configuration controls.
  5. Supplier Quality Management: Work with suppliers to meet quality standards and drive improvements.
  6. Customer Interface: Engage with customers and regulators to address quality issues, ensure compliance, and implement requirements throughout the supply chain.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Strong understanding of aerospace standards (e.g., CAA & EASA Part 145, Part 21J & G, AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Familiarity with aerospace regulations (ITAR, DFARS, FAA) and military specs.
  • Experience with auditing practices, risk-based thinking, root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Analytical skills for trend analysis and data-driven decisions.
  • Attention to detail in technical reviews and inspections.
  • Excellent communication skills for team collaboration and reporting.
  • Problem-solving skills using techniques like 8D, 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams.
  • Project management ability for multiple initiatives.
  • At least 5 years in quality engineering or compliance in aerospace/defense manufacturing.
  • Experience as a lead/internal auditor, preferably with certifications.
  • Supplier quality management experience.
  • Continuous improvement methodology experience (Six Sigma, Lean).
  • ERP system experience for quality tracking and reporting.
