About The Role

Position: Education Access Specialist - Quality Assurance
Type: Permanent, Full Time
Salary: £42,761 to £50,307 per annum
Location: Chelmsford

Role Overview

Essex County Council aims to improve outcomes for children with Special Educational Needs, Additional Needs, and Disabilities. The role involves ensuring the quality of alternative education providers, monitoring compliance, safeguarding, and working with stakeholders to enhance educational provision and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Ensure external alternative education provision complies with the Education Act 1996.
  2. Develop and oversee strategies for pupil attendance and safeguarding.
  3. Quality assure education and teaching standards of providers.
  4. Manage safeguarding matters and act as the single point of contact for providers.
  5. Implement systems for safeguarding, attendance, and quality assurance.
  6. Conduct quality assurance and monitoring visits, challenging providers as needed.
  7. Analyze data and report findings to the Quality Assurance board.
Required Experience and Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with schools and alternative education providers.
  • Qualified Level 3 Safeguarding Lead.
  • Experience influencing senior leaders.
  • Knowledge of education regulations and contractual arrangements.
  • Effective communication skills and mobility, with a valid driving license and access to a vehicle.
