Job Description:
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to help our product & engineering teams release changes of higher quality, with more confidence.

You'll be working very closely with stream-aligned, cross-functional teams to ensure that they are considering test strategy during technical design, and aligning upon effective acceptance criteria. You'll work with the teams to add automated end-to-end test coverage for new features within sprints, so that by the time we release a change, it's already incorporated into our test suite. From time to time, you'll support the teams with manual testing where appropriate, and you'll use this experience to inform new changes to our test suite and strategy.

We need your input and ownership within our QE working group, where you'll work cross-functionally to decide how we improve our testing strategy, and how we distribute execution of this strategy across our entire team.

Reporting to our QE Manager, you'll be working with another quality engineer on this growing team. You'll take ownership, work independently, and receive the necessary support to excel in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for writing automation tests:
    • Working with the team to enhance our automation framework.
    • Adding tests to our E2E test suite to continuously improve test coverage.
    • Assisting other engineers in running and contributing to the test suite.
  • You will contribute to functional manual tests where necessary.
  • You will be part of a cross functional Agile team, with focus on enabling them to release features with fewer bugs.
  • You will play an active part in improving our testing practices and SDLC as a member of our QE working group.
  • You will be coaching fellow team members across engineering disciplines to improve their ability to contribute to improving test coverage.

Role based:

  • You have strong experience writing automated tests for web applications using Cypress, Mocha & Chai. Selenium, Playwright and similar technologies will be considered
  • You've created test strategies for both manual and automated tests.
  • You have a strong base of testing principles and methodologies.
  • You have knowledge of automated testing, non-functional testing, test case data management and working knowledge of accessibility and security testing.
  • You have good experience developing tests both automated and manual within an Agile/Scrum environment
  • You have experience with CI tools (in particular github) and integration with them.
  • You are comfortable with supporting teams with manual testing as needed.
  • You possess an understanding of performance and load testing tools such as JMeter, K6, etc.
  • You have an understanding of the issues involved in accessibility and localisation.
  • You have a bias to action, starting with small steps rather than large projects and you then iterate your way to bigger, more scalable outcomes.
  • You build strong relationships internally within and across the organization to improve overall with cross functional teams and assist in resolving issues they may encounter.
  • You are able to independently solve difficult technical and presentational problems & provide solutions or work around. You ask for help when needed but try to solve things yourself.
  • You don't let important details slip through the cracks and slow or jeopardize a release.

Cultural:

  • Results Oriented. Know what you're trying to achieve, and measure progress.
  • Proactive. Say “I intend to…” instead of waiting for permission.
  • Dependable. Commit responsibly, follow through, and be intentional and open in delegating or dropping tasks where necessary.
  • Prioritizer. Able to make high-leverage impacts on key areas.
  • Bias to Action. Find ways forward and iterate with small steps to move quickly.
  • Humble in feedback and debate. Be more like scientists, and welcome data driven debates that deliver the best possible outcome.
  • Supportive. Understands that we win or lose as a team, and supports those around you.
  • Ambitious. Aims to be the best.
  • Builder. Looks for opportunities to improve processes, people, teams, and everything else.
  • Great Communicator. Be succinct, create space for others to speak, and strive to benefit the atmosphere in a room.

Due to the location of other team members, applications will only be considered from the following countries;

  • India
  • Egypt
  • South Africa
  • Sri Lanka
  • Pakistan
  • 35 days annual vacation.
  • Generous sick time and compassionate leave to support our team members' health needs, and physical and mental well-being.
  • Flexible hours & remote work; while we fully support digital nomads, you must be able to align with your team's predominant time zones.
  • A high-energy, collaborative, and supportive high-growth organization backed by some of Silicon Valley's top venture capital investors.
  • Two hours per week (paid) to spend learning anything you like related to your role, plus a budget to spend on learning materials (courses, books, conferences). We love education and we believe in nurturing your growth!
  • A promise to invest in your growth personally and professionally. Wherever you would like to go and whatever you would like to do, we will be there to support you.
