Acis Group is seeking a Compliance Officer to promote governance, quality and risk management across sites. You will work with stakeholders to interpret regulations, implement controls and support continuous improvement.

The role requires experience in audits, data protection and reporting, with strong analytical and communication skills to drive compliant outcomes and a culture of improvement across the organisation.

Job description

This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong organisational and analytical skills, and the ability to interpret and apply regulatory, contractual and organisational requirements. The successful candidate will be expected to work across multiple Acis Group sites, collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to promote a culture of compliance, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

As a Compliance Officer, a typical day might include:

• Monitoring compliance with internal policies, procedures, contractual requirements and regulatory standards.
• Conducting audits, compliance reviews and checks across departments to ensure adherence to organisational and funding body requirements.
• Supporting teams to understand and implement compliance requirements effectively.
• Maintaining accurate compliance records, reports and audit trails to evidence compliance activity.
• Reviewing policies, procedures and processes to identify areas for improvement and ensure they remain up to date.
• Investigating compliance concerns, non-conformances and incidents, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and monitored.
• Preparing documentation and evidence for external inspections, audits and regulatory reviews.
• Acting as a key point of contact for compliance-related queries, providing advice, guidance and support to operational teams.
• Liaising with awarding organisation’s, funding bodies, regulatory authorities and external partners to ensure compliance requirements are understood and met.
• Tracking compliance actions and supporting managers to complete actions within agreed timescales.
• Analysing compliance data, identifying trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Supporting the development and delivery of compliance-related training, guidance and awareness activities.
• Working closely with operational teams to ensure regulatory and contractual obligations are understood and achieved.
• Supporting the Quality and Compliance Manager in producing reports, monitoring performance and maintaining organisational compliance frameworks.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen governance, quality and risk management practices.
• Working as part of the wider quality team to ensure all tasks are covered in line with timescales as required.

Some of the experience/skills we need to consider you:

• Experience working in a compliance, governance, quality assurance, audit or risk management role.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements, funding rules, safeguarding, data protection and compliance frameworks.
• Experience of conducting audits, inspections, quality reviews or monitoring activities.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of an organisation.
• Experience of working with external stakeholders, including regulators, funding bodies, awarding organisations and partner agencies.
• Ability to interpret legislation, regulations, policies and contractual requirements and communicate them clearly to others.
• Experience of investigating issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to review data, identify trends and make recommendations for improvement.
• Excellent report writing skills, with experience producing compliance reports, action plans and management information.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with confidence in challenging non-compliant practices where appropriate.
• Experience of developing, reviewing and implementing policies, procedures and controls.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and the ability to use databases and compliance management systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively with managers and teams to promote a positive compliance culture.
• Self-motivated, resilient and proactive, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel across Acis Group sites as required.

What will make you stand out from the crowd:

• Experience within the education, skills, social housing or public sector environment.
• Knowledge of ESFA funding rules, Ofsted requirements, matrix Standard, ISO standards or other regulatory frameworks.
• Experience supporting external audits, inspections or compliance reviews.
• Professional qualification in Compliance, Governance, Risk Management, Audit or Quality Assurance.
• Experience delivering compliance training and awareness sessions.
• Experience developing compliance monitoring frameworks, risk registers and improvement plans.
• Advanced data analysis and reporting skills.
• Proven ability to drive compliance improvements and influence positive organisational change.
