Job description

An established and growing organisation is seeking a Compliance Engineer to support and strengthen its approach to quality, environmental, health & safety and wider regulatory compliance. This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced and highly organised compliance professional to take increasing ownership of the organisation's management systems and regulatory obligations. The role will work across multiple areas of the business, helping to ensure standards are maintained, risks are identified and compliance requirements are embedded effectively. The successful individual will be highly detail-oriented, structured and proactive, with the confidence to work independently while engaging with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate and support internal and external audits in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Maintain, review and continually improve the organisation's management systems, processes and compliance framework.
  • Monitor changes to relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards and assess their implications for the business.
  • Provide practical advice and guidance to colleagues on regulatory and legislative compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance documentation, records, procedures and supporting evidence are accurate, current and appropriately maintained.
  • Identify areas of potential or actual non-compliance and work with relevant teams to develop and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Support ongoing compliance across quality, environmental, health & safety and broader legislative requirements.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of applicable packaging legislation and requirements relating to WEEE and Batteries Regulations.
  • Evaluate regulatory changes and communicate relevant impacts and actions required across the business.
  • Assist with compliance reviews, audits, inspections and continuous improvement projects.
  • Undertake visits to other business locations where required, supporting audits and helping to ensure consistent standards and processes are maintained.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, suppliers and external stakeholders to ensure compliance obligations are understood and effectively addressed.
  • Contribute to developing a strong culture of compliance, accountability and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.
About You:
  • Previous experience in a compliance, quality, environmental, engineering or similar technical role.
  • Practical experience supporting or conducting audits against ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Knowledge and understanding of packaging legislation, WEEE and Batteries Regulations.
  • A strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and regulatory compliance principles.
  • Experience maintaining management systems, compliance records and associated documentation.
  • The ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical actions for the business.
  • Highly organised, methodical and diligent, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and a consistently high standard of work.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a practical and solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
  • Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of responsibilities and working with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Collaborative approach, with the ability to build effective relationships across different functions and levels of an organisation.
  • Proactive in identifying risks, gaps and opportunities for improvement rather than simply responding to issues.
  • Comfortable travelling to other company locations when required.

This is an excellent opportunity for a compliance professional looking to develop their career within a broad and commercially focused role. The position offers the opportunity to take ownership of an expanding compliance remit, influence standards and processes across the organisation, and become a trusted point of reference for regulatory and management system requirements.

We are proud to be an equal opportunities employer and encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and circumstances, including minorities and those with disabilities.
