Job summary

NT Highland is seeking a senior Compliance Manager to lead HSEQ and HMRC compliance across two distilleries and estate operations in Speyside. On site, you will run audits, drive ISO 9001 implementation, and manage relationships with SEPA, HMRC and COMAH while embedding a proactive culture of safety and compliance.

The successful candidate will partner with senior leadership to elevate standards and ensure regulatory adherence across the business.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Compliance, HSEQ or related role in an industrial environment.
• Drinks or food manufacturing background ideal; COMAH exposure considered.
• Strong knowledge of H&S, environmental management, HMRC obligations and quality systems.
• ISO 9001 implementation experience highly desirable.
• NEBOSH qualification required.
• IEMA or IRM certification advantageous.
• Tenacious, structured and organised; able to embed change.

NT Highland are delighted to be supporting their Distilling client who are a prominent name in Scotch Whisky with numerous growing brands and very exciting projects undergoing with the business being at a pivotal moment.

And at the heart of making sure all of it is done properly, safely and compliantly - that's where this role sits.

The Role

This is a broad, senior compliance position covering the full HSEQ and HMRC compliance agenda across 2 distilleries and estate operations. You will work closely with senior leadership to embed a genuine culture of compliance across a fast-moving, ambitious business.

You'll be on site, engaging with teams, leading audits, driving the ISO 9001 implementation, managing relationships with regulatory bodies including SEPA, HMRC and COMAH, and integrating occupational health into the operational framework.

You'll inherit a strong foundation built by an exceptional outgoing Compliance Manager. The expectation is that you maintain that standard - and build on it.

What we're looking for...

Leadership. This role directs and influences a whole site - people, processes and culture - and the right candidate will be comfortable doing that with confidence, care and the ability to challenge constructively at every level.

Having the ability to lead auditing across the sites will also be a key part of this role.

Beyond that:

• Strong experience in a Compliance, HSEQ or related role in an industrial or operational environment
• Drinks or food manufacturing background ideal -process or manufacturing industry with COMAH exposure strongly considered
• Strong working knowledge of H&S, environmental management, HMRC obligations and quality systems
• ISO 9001 implementation experience highly desirable
• NEBOSH qualification -required for this role
• IEMA or IRM certification advantageous
• Tenacious, structured and organised -with the drive to genuinely embed change
